Music connects with people’s lives and becomes a part of their story. You want a way to see how music and memories make the soundtrack of our lives.
Who are you?
I’m a Michigan-based writer, podcaster, and interviewer.
I'm the author of Song Stories, an essay collection written by music professionals and indie artists about the songs that shaped their identities and changed their lives.
I've conducted user research and developed consumer insights for Live Nation Labs and SoundHound, as well as managed charts at Billboard and edited words at Hypebot.
Today, I’m an academic librarian who specializes in AI literacy.
My essays:
My books:
Promised Land: Youth Culture, Disruptive Startups, and Social Music
Divergent Streams: Reflections and Explorations of the Music Industry
I’ve also helped thousands of GoDaddy customers with technical support, and I served several tours of duty where I bootstrapped my dreams and helped people at Target.
One day, I’ll interview Chuck Klosterman about his North Dakota heavy metal odyssey.

I'll do my best to fix errors in my writing before the newsletter goes out. But I can't obsess over achieving absolute perfection, or I'll never publish anything.
I’m not afraid of being wrong. I’m afraid of not being curious enough.
